Certification Format and Criteria

To prepare for the certification exam, you can follow this preparation journey for the Professional certification in Toon Boom Harmony Premium. You can see below the format and grading criteria on which you will be tested.

This is a practical hands-on exam in Harmony Premium.

Format and Duration

This exam is divided into six modules and you will have four weeks to complete all modules.

• Drawing Tools and Colour Palette
• Traditional Paperless Animation
• Cut-out Character Rigging
• Cut-out Character Animation
• Compositing and Effects
• Multiplane Camera

Grading Criteria

You can see below the grading criteria for each module.

Module 1

You will be graded on the following criteria:

• Completion of the exercises
• Understanding of each tool
• Adherence to project guidelines
• Character design
• Cleanliness of the pencil lines
• General use of the drawing tools

Module 2

You will be graded on the following criteria:

• Adherence to project guidelines
• Cleanliness of the drawing substitution library (no unused drawings in the clean layer)
• Cleanliness of the keyframes in the timeline.
• Stretch and Squash
• Overlapping and follow through action
• Ease ins and ease outs

Module 3

You will be graded on the following criteria:

• Adherence to project guidelines
• Cleanliness of the Node view (nodes properly named, use additional composites and backdrops for a clearer visual)
• Rig functionality
• Clever use of the different nodes and systems

Module 4

You will be graded on the following criteria:

• Adherence to project guidelines
• Stretch and Squash
• Anticipation
• Overlapping and follow through action
• Ease ins and ease outs
• Dynamic poses
• Animation pacing
• Animation arcs
• No floating feet
• Lip-sync accuracy
• Cleanliness of the keyframes in the timeline

Module 5

You will be graded on the following criteria:

• Adherence to project guidelines
• Clever use of the nodes and systems
• Cleanliness of the node view

Module 6

You will be graded on the following criteria:

• Adherence to project guidelines
• Quality of the multiplane (items don’t slide in place)
• Quality of the camera movement (ease in, ease out, movement isn’t too fast and feels natural)
