This new Master Controller creation wizard can be used to create a curved deformer over an envelope deformer - giving you heightened control while animating. This wizard is available in the Master Controller toolbar and is called Create Deformer on Deformer.

The Deformer on Deformer Wizard works by allowing you to create a Curve deformation chain over your Envelope deformation chain, then converting this Curve deformer into a Master Controller. This Master Controller will display a series of point widgets laid out and configured to resemble and behave like the curve deformation chain you created. The difference is that, instead of deforming the drawing, the Master Controller will deform the shape of the Envelope deformer it is connected to by moving and rotating its deformation points.

How to create a deformer on a deformer

  1. Before starting, make sure the element you want to apply the Deformer on Deformer to has an envelope deformer. If not, apply one.

  1. Do one of the following:

    • In the Node view select the drawing element of the part you would like to apply the Deformer on Deformer to.

    • In the Camera view, use the Transform tool to select the part you would like to apply the Deformer on Deformer to.

  1. In the Master Controller toolbar, click the Create Deformer on Deformer button.

  2. The Deformer on Deformer Wizard dialog box pops up.

  3. In the Camera view, set the points for the deformer the same way you would if you were setting up a curve deformer.

  4. In the Deformer on Deformer Wizard dialog, click done.

You can hide and show the Deformer on Deformer using the Master Controller view or the Show Master Controllers button in the Master Controller toolbar.
