In live-action, the term shot is used. In animation terminology, the term scene is mainly used.

A scene (shot) consists of one or many panels. A scene is defined by panels that share the same background, and a new scene is created whenever the background changes. In 2D animation, this will happen every time a new background needs to be drawn.

Each panel in a scene contains different actions that explain what is happening in the scene. Only the most important actions (or poses) are included.

The images above are a good example. Notice how there is more than one scene/shot because the background has changed, but one scene can have multiple panels to express the action happening in that scene. You can add as many panels as needed to communicate this.
