Equal Sections in Perspective

T-DES-002-007

There are two different techniques that can be used to show objects with similar width using perspective. You can either repeat it or divide a known area in equal sections.

To repeat a rectangle, start by drawing the first one keeping the construction lines that are converging to the vanishing point. Then trace an X within the rectangle to find its centre. From there, make the centerline that connects with the vanishing point. Next, draw a line from the nearest bottom corner and make it pass through the intersection of the centerline and the farthest side of the rectangle and extend it to the top construction line. And where it crosses with the construction line, trace a vertical line. Now you have two rectangles with the same dimensions. You can continue by repeating the last two steps until you have the desired number of rectangles.

If there is an area you need to divide into a specific number of sections, trace a horizontal guideline starting from its nearest bottom corner. Then evenly divide this line in the required number of sections you want to create within the area. Next, draw a line from the end of the guideline passing by the area’s farthest bottom corner and extend it to the horizon line. Where it intersects with the horizon line, trace lines to all the marks on the guideline. Now, you just need to trace verticals where the lines you traced intersect with the bottom of the area.
