Proportion Grid, 16:9 Grid, and Alignment Guides with Bitmap
T-S20NEW-002-001
Using a grid is useful when positioning or drawing objects and characters in a scene.
A grid can also be useful for creating balanced compositions for all your shots. By default, the Proportion Grid is divided into 3 vertical and 3 horizontal sections to create the classic rule of thirds composition grid. It can be used independently in either the Stage or Camera views and follows the Camera frame. Its divisions can be customized
How to display the Proportion Grid
- Do one of the following:
- Click the Grid button at the bottom of the Stage or Camera view.
- Select View > Extras > Show Proportion Grid.
Another grid that has been added is the 16x12 Field Grid. This grid is very similar to the 12 Field Grid, except is covers a 16x12 area instead of a 12x12 one.
How to Display the 16x12 Field Grid
- Do one of the following:
- Click and hold the Grid button at the bottom of the Stage or Camera view and select the 16x12 Field Grid.
- Select View > Grid > 16x12 Field Grid.
In addition to the new grids, the Alignment Guides have been updated to allow snapping for bitmap images.
How to snap bitmap images to the Alignment Guides
- In the Alignment Guides toolbar, add a guide.
- In the Tools toolbar, click on the Select tool.
- In the Tool Properties, click the Snapping drop-down menu.
- Select Snap to Alignment Guides.
- Using the Select tool, move the bitmap layer in the area of the guide. The bounding box will snap to the guide.
