Gamut Mapping
T-DES-003-020
Gamut mapping is another great way to create a harmonious colour palette. A gamut is the entire range of colours used in a painting or illustration. By using a mask over the colour wheel, all colours outside the mask are excluded. You would be using only the colours within the range.
Working with a gamut like this requires you to be a bit more comfortable with a range of lower chroma hues. It's tempting to work with bright and pure colours almost exclusively when you have access to every single colour, but gamut mapping will force you to work within limits.
